1st time in NEW YORK CITY 🤩
As per usual, I decided to book a last minute trip! A long weekend in New York City to visit my bestie, Deirdre and experience the city for the first time!
I caught a taxi from LGA to Brooklyn and blasted Taylor Swift in my ear buds while driving over the bridge. And just like magic, as soon as the lyrics hit, “Welcome to New York, it’s been waiting for you,” the skyline appeared. My chest filled up and I started to cry a bit.. my poor taxi driver 😂
My first day was filled to the brim with adventures! I ventured solo onto my first subway ride and smelled all the various weird subway smells… it was heaven. I hit the Natural History Museum, walked across Central Park to The Met.. we saw the SPECTACULAR Moulin Rouge and walked through Times Square! I ended the night on top of the Rockefeller overlooking the vast city - lights as far as I could see… it was unbelievable.
The 9/11 memorial was emotional and beautiful.. we took the Staten Island Ferry to see Lady Liberty… went to Grand Central Station and experienced the whisper wall! Then met up with friends in the village to have a drunken night at a comedy club 😆 And like most NYC nights, we ate pizza to soak up the alcohol where I screamed, “LET’S GIVE IT UP FOR THE PIZZA PEOPLE DOING GODS WORK!” And everyone screamed and laughed. 😂 The next day, hungover and tired, we crawled to Chinatown for dumplings (King Dumpling) and an amazing massage. I couldn’t have asked for a better first experience in the city.
I want to give a major shout out to my best friend @deirdreluv who made my trip so wonderful. She went above and beyond as my host. We’ve been friends since high school, and I’m so grateful to have such a kind soul in my life. Thanks for letting me crash, D 💜
Wanna travel with me? Spots are still available for my Greece trip in May! 🔗inbio 💜💜💜
